During the night my sore throat turned into a stuffed up head which is actually good because being stuffed up is easier to medicate. At least now every breath doesn’t hurt and make me want to cough. I woke up at 6.30 to engage in my favorite ship pastime, sitting on the bed in my (cruise ship provided) bathrobe eating cereal and watching the scenery pass by our window. I was wondering why of all the amenities the ship does and doesn’t provided for its steerage class passengers, why bathrobes? Then I realized it’s probably the room service guys providing them in self defense after having too many passengers open the door in their birthday suits to get their breakfast. Wendell thought ahead and got us a cabin on the land side so there is cool stuff to look at. Personally I think that people that got a veranda room wasted their money. It’s too cold to sit outside and your view from the room is blocked by the veranda. Our window looks directly onto the water and the bed is right below it. Going through Tracy Arm was pretty. At about 8AM I collected Mother and Father. We got second breakfast and went over the schedule I had planned for them today. We had a tour of the kitchen first which was actually kind of lameish because they gave us a self guided printout, then rushed us through the kitchen so we couldn’t even read it. Then we had lunch. Next we had a lecture about Alaska, that was kind of interesting though we were very sleepy, so we went for our naps after that. After our naps we went to the Lido deck to hot tub and swim. The pool is too small to do laps but the ship was rolling a lot which makes just staying stationary in the center of the pool a good workout, so I did some water aerobics, led by Mother and got a good workout. After afternoon exercise we went to dinner. Last night Mother and I had ordered the Halibut because it came with crab legs and guess what was on the menu tonight? Crab legs. So we got more crab legs. Yummy. We each got a plate of crab legs, then ordered an extra plate of crab legs for the table to share. I love the whole ‘food included’ kind of thing on cruise ships, you can order all appetizers for dinner and no entrée if you want. After dinner we hit the introductory show, then went up to the Crow’s Nest where they were playing dance music from the 50’s and 60’s. I never knew Dad was such a good dancer. Mom and I wore him out making him dance with us and another lady there even asked him to dance with her. He’s got some good moves. Mom and Dad were so cute. When the DJ played Elvis Presley’s Can’t Help Falling in Love, which is totally Mom and Dad’s era from when they were young, they slow danced. You can tell by the way people dance with each other, which ones had been married for years and which were newlyweds, you could tell by the way they danced together that Mom and Dad have been married for a long time.
