The Cow Fights
For the past two days, Orsieres has been ringing with cowbells - this weekend are the Cow Fights, the big event here in town.

People pointed in the general direction of the cow fights, however they were a little vague as to exactly how to get there. I asked Hobbit, "Do you think we're going in the correct direction?" as we rounded a corner. Hobbit spotted the row of cow piles and said, "This looks like a good sign."

A Clue To The Location Of The Cow Fights
Hobbit Reports On Cow Fights
Today we went to the Match de Rein. Cow Fight. Who'd thunk we'd land in the sticks of Swisse on the day of their big regional cow fight? So this is what the cow fight is all about. These are pretty small mountain cows, not your big beef cows at all. And since they are cows, they are all girls. So it's a lot more like Cow Posturing than Cow Fighting. First the cows paw the ground, then they walk quickly towards each other, bump foreheads and glare. They might hop around in a circle for a while then one will give up and walk off. That's the one that loses. Usually she'll go find her Daddy on the edge of the ring and get a treat and some sympathy because the other mean cow scared her off.
