Hobbit On Paris

We spent four days in Paris. We discovered that Fat Bike Tire Cycle tours are fun so we did one of those our first day. Just like the Match de Rien we stumbled across a cool thing. We happened to be in Paris on the day they were having a big roller-blading fundraiser. They were closing off the Champs de Elyesse for roller bladders. So we rented roller-blades and joined the locals. Too bad Wendell threw himself in front of me and twisted my knee. Also he ripped my favorite REI convertible pants L Bad Wendell.
We should have done something cultural but we’re pretty full up of culture so we went to Eurodisney. It’s smaller than the ones in the states, but it has a European feel to it. Even in Frontierland. There’s no Mickey Face anywhere, they really toned down the Disney character stuff. They don’t have the New Orleans Square stuff since the real thing is right outside the gate.
We have been eating well in Paris. We had a reservation, made months ago, at the Jules Verne Restaurant, the two Michelin star restaurant at the Eiffel Tower. When we showed up for our reservation they said they didn’t have it. Turns out that they called ‘our hotel’ the day before to confirm and were told we weren’t at the hotel, so they cancelled our reservation. Amex had randomly chosen a hotel to put down as where we were staying for the restaurant to call, so of course we weren’t at the hotel. Stupid. So the guy at the bottom of the tower says okay we have a cancellation so you can have that table. Once we got seated at a really awesome table I commented that whoever reserved and cancelled must have reserved months ago. Hummmmm…….. Wendell pointed out that we got our own table back.

The following combination should be avoided:
1- Lightweight
2- Four course French meal
3- ½ bottle red wine
4- Rich chocolate dessert

Combine all over a two hour period then immediately upon completion of dessert, run ¼ mile into a muggy subway, jostle in a crowded violently rocking subway car for ten minutes, remove from subway car brief, then dash across, up, down, over and through subway terminal, Insert into another crowded subway car, jostle well for fifteen minutes, then dash across international train terminal and onto the Eurostar.
Bleh.
We must be in England now, it is raining.
