QM2

The wind went from a gale force 10 down to a 4 during the night, then up to a 5. We had coffee and fruit delivered to our cabin and were in the gym by 8AM. The gym is all the way in the front so we were still getting tossed up and down. The tread mill users all had at least one hand on the bar for balance. You don’t need to set the treadmill for incline training because as the ship goes up you are running uphill, as it goes down you are running downhill. It made our weight lifting totally random as the boat would go up and down the lifting would either be really easy or really heavy.
My throat is still sore but my stomach is fine. Wendell is totally fine today.
The lecture I wanted to see was at 10AM so we missed breakfast. I told the lecturer about the hot tub trick as he was still a bit queasy. He was thrilled about the notion of getting a break from the queasiness. So we saw the first in the lecture series which is about the history of Christianity in England. After that wen went to the Quick Step ballroom dancing class. By that time the winds were up to a gale force 8. When you’re doing Quick Step it goes like this Sloooow-sloooow-quickquick-Sloooow etc. But today it went Slooow-sloooow-quicAAAAGGGGHHHHH! As the boat would tip and we’d all go running across the dance floor the direction the ship was rocking. Then we’d all crack up.
Lunch: salad, pan seared cod, peach tart.
We had tickets to the planetarium, but they couldn’t do the show because of the motion of the ship, so we took naps and went to the hot tubs. The pools are still closed.
Dinner was formal again, the leather tux made another appearance. Wendell wore his skirt for the first time. There was a captain’s cocktail party before that we went to.
Salad, fancy smoked salmon, sea bass and crème brulee.
After dinner we went to their Vegas style show. It was fun to watch the dancers compensating for the rocking of the boat. They are much better at it than I as they have been on the ship for a while. We went to the disco, but they had a Caribbean band (yuck) so we came back to the cabin. The winds are down to a 3 now.
