Hobbit On Scheduling Our Days on QM2

Each evening Wendell and I look through the schedule of activities for the next day and write up a schedule of what we want to do. For today our schedule is:
8AM arise coffee in bed
8.30 to 9.30 formal breakfast
10.00 to 11.00 lecture
11.00 to 12.00 audio tour (there is a ship wide exhibit of the history of Cunard ships which has an accompanying audio tour you can get from the pursers office)
12.00 to 1.00 Lunch at Lions Pub. (not very good)
1.30 to 2.00 planetarium show
2.00 to 3.00 Wendell friends of Dorothy
2.30 to 3.00 Hobbit Magic Show
3.00 to 5.00 gym
5.00 to 7.00 Movie, Walk the Line ( we ended up napping from 2.00 to about 5.00 then going to the gym and pool from 5.00 to 7.00)
8.30 to 10.00 dinner, informal
10.00 to late dancing in the ballroom with big band
Breakfast in the dining room was lovely. Not many people go, they go to the buffet instead. I saw part two in the lecture series and Wendell went to the library. Some of the outside decks are open now (gale force 6 today) so we no longer feel quite so trapped in a luxury hotel. We sat with a couple from London that are going on QM2 to NY, doing a tour of NY then coming back. It’s like checking into a luxury hotel for two weeks.
After the library we got the audio tour and had lunch at the Lion’s pub, fish and chips, which was a little greasy, but they had Check (as in Check republic) beer which is good.
We saw the planetarium show but one of their screens went down so there was a black hole in the middle of the dome so it looked like things would disappear into the black hole, then reappear. Wendell was itching to go over to the computer and click ‘okay’.
Our cabin steward changes all of our towels every day which is kinda unnecessary. Our waiter that we have at dinner showed me how to fold a napkin fancy. The ship rocks for and aft and creeks, sometimes the wooden slats on our window cover hit each other and sound like wooden wind chimes.
We are surrounded by old people. I have seen people closer to our age but they seem to just sit and read or whatever. You see only old people going to the lectures and shows and things. I guess I am old.
In the laundry room I was having a conversation with a British lady. The conversation was mostly ‘are you finished with the dryer’ and ‘oh you forgot a sock’ she asked where I was from and when I replied ‘Seattle’ she said ‘oh you’re American, you speech English so well!’. I really didn’t know how to reply to that. I guess she doesn’t realize we speak English in America.
So we blew off Friends of Dorothy and the magic show and took naps instead. We worked out and got in 3 laps around the promenade which was really cool. I’m kind of forgetting that we are on a boat in the ocean, it feels more like a luxury hotel that sways. Fortunately we are no longer sick. The pool was finally open so we went for a swim and a dunk in the hot tub. I’d read that being in the pool when the boat is pitching and rolling is really fun and they were right! It was really fun.
We didn’t stay at the dance tonight because it was really crowded. We ended up going to the cigar lounge instead.

The food on QM2 is rather ornate ...

This is what Hobbit got when she ordered cream cheese, lox and a bagel for breakfast.
